MARCH 2010
TRIP NOTES
Two planes left Santa Barbara on Thursday morning and five planes came down on Friday morning, in generally great weather. Fortunately, the strong winds of the previous week were not an issue. Several planes were able to go whale watching on Friday at the San Ignacio Lagoon.
MEDICAL CLINIC
Tobin Greensweig, who helped in the initial set-up of the Cadeje satellite internet system, and is now a first year med student, was able to get some time off and join us on this trip. He, John Vallee, Jim Scheib, and nurse practioner Carol Gemberling, saw patients on the medical side. They were assisted by three nurses, Brieann Reidl, Megan Kotlarz, and Jill Katzer, all first time volunteers. The pharmacy was run by Pat Burkhard, with help from Margo and Lisa. Sarah, Mike and Ben took blood pressures, and Christen did lab work. Thanks to all for a great job!
DENTAL CLINIC
The dental clinic had Nina doing triage with Maile and Robin sterilizing instruments and Lois helping with patient education and post-op instructions. Casey jumped in the hygiene spot and cleaned teeth. Dick was, as usual, the maker of new smiles, with his denture work, while John and Stu handled the “routine dental needs”. Stu did three root canals and multiple ffillings while John handled most of the surgery. Roni and Larry worked as both dental assistants and sterilization instructors.
