TRIP NOTES

The weather on Friday was near perfect for the trip down the Baja peninsula. Six planes were able to make this trip. The return trip was not quite as easy, as there were headwinds up to 25 knots at times.

CLINIC NOTES

We were very busy seeing 50 patients. The clinic ran very well under the direction of Marilyn Enns. Some new protocols were established and the patient flow was greatly improved. Margo Kenney had a table outside to take blood pressures. Debbie Murphy was fantastic at triage, making for an efficient flow of patients for Dr. David Rose and Myra Howard-Cochran, NP. Chris Huntsman was busy in the lab and Marilyn Enns and Ross Rankin kept up with the orders and kept order in the pharmacy. Leo Ramsey made for an excellent interpreter and scribe for Myra, and his friend Sara and Chris’ sister Sarah took blood pressures and were runners to make sure everyone got the necessary labs and medications. Several patients were referred from the Audiologist Bonnie for treatment of infections.

DENTAL CLINIC

The dental clinic was blessed this month with a great staff. We had 5 dentists and 3 dental assistants. Well over 50 patients were seen. Donn Zellet did a great job with triage. Dr. John Grube, Dr. Yvonne Roshon, and Dr. Robert Ruby worked non-stop filling and extracting necessary teeth. The docs were assisted by Larry Cochran and Melodi Willis. Dr. Stu MacPherson and Roni MacPherson worked diligently on several root canals and many fillings. Dr. Dick Klein once again performed his magic with the dentures and partials. Maggie Crosby was recruited for sterilization and did a great job. Many thanks to the dental crew.

AUDIOLOGY

Bonnie Rettegers, with Susan Grube interpreting, always attracts a crowd and this trip was no exception. Bonnie was able to fit new hearing aids and fix broken ones, as well as assess ear infections, for the medical side.

OTHER NOTES

Roni and Stu made up a personal hygiene kits for the soldiers who have treated us very well over the years. The intention was to deliver at Christmas but, since the weather was bad, the kits were delivered this time. Roni and Stu delivered over thirty kits.
